since i’ve read none of these books i’ve concluded i’m actually illiterate and since illiterate people can’t read i can’t do any recommending in good conscience. also, the other quicksand is fairly worth picking up
i will recommend catch-22 on the basis of i just recently used it to blow the mind of a young asian friend of mine who loved guns and war and big english words. he cried at the end. maybe you will too?
I read Snow Crash like six years ago at the behest of my father, read into that your own relationship with your father. I think it was good but memories are hazy. All I recall is that it reeked of anime, but there was probably no actual anime in it, just anime vibes; also that there was a vagina dentata in it.
More interestingly for the timing of this post, I'm reading Catch-22 right now. I'm about halfway through. The style of writing is unique, I enjoy it and feel that it reflects the themes of the book. Others might find it gimmicky? Perhaps you would enjoy it since you say the book has a funny premise. I don't think the book is that dragging. Maybe the first three or so chapters drag a bit, but I think I've been reading fairly quickly; most of my progress over the last 260 pages has been in two sittings. I've read far more slogging books than this.

whats the other quicksand
Yes to Snow Crash.
Maybe watch the original Catch-22 movie with Alan Arkin if you lack patience--it's a nearly perfect movie and you're right, the book takes patience.
I'd take 'Pale Fire' over Lolita any day.
never knew there was a catch-22 movie

i read “how to leave the house” and that was good too
Why would you buy a book? You know you can get them on the Internet for free.
i just like having a physical book in my hands and on my shelf. if i cant find it irl i will immediately steal it off the internet though
Feminine trait. I bet you like holding baby bunnies in your hands too.
